Thorpe Dining Table
designed by Steven Owens
The Thorpe table features sand cast legs in solid bronze and solid timber tops using hand selected boards offering stunning character and variation. Each table is unique and offers a real sense of the tree it has come from. Defects and knots in the timber are retained, we add butterfly patches and resin to further enhance the top. Edges can be either cut square or left as a live edge (image shown is Wych Elm with flame scorched live edge).
The solid bronze legs have slender proportions and subtle details which provide a solid and defined aesthetic. The bronze is gently hand polished allowing the natural pitting of the sand casting process to show through, leaving a very raw feeling to this beautiful material.
The size is only limited by the timber available

“Bronze & Wych Elm are two of my absolute favourite materials” Steven Owens
Casting with bronze (an alloy primarily consisting of copper and tin) is an ancient process and we work with a casting company, based in the UK, steeped in tradition. The finishing from the raw casting is very labour intensive and a process done completely by hand. Our castings are left untreated and will self-patinate over time. This thin layer of oxidation will give the bronze a rich colour, further enhancing the metal. The bronze can be pre-patinated and treated with chemicals to various dark tones, please discuss with us if you would like to explore this option. Other casting metals are available.
